So what is marketing and advertising ?

So after I knew what business I wanted to do and had the items to sell or the service to provide, I understood that finding customers was a problem.

I did not expect it to be difficult to find at least one customer, so I followed the strategy I set up, which was advertise my service on free classified and eventually it worked. I did get a customer.

So what more?

I noticed that it did not work with every service or product. So I decided to use social media to advertise and I thought that I could do it for free and get customers too. And this is where I was wrong. I set up an Instagram account and Facebook page, and posted ads I created using a free online site and the result was followers. This was wonderful, as of then I was sure I would get a lot of leads and sales. It turned out to not be wrong again.

So what could I do. I searched on Google for information about finding customers, and came across articles, videos and even webinars.

The most valuable information I found was that advertising is more than we think. Thanks to a webinar, I learned how to make short videos to promote a product or service, and how to find leads by building a list using a squeeze page. Yes SQUEEZE ! I found that advertising can be eventful and fun and sometimes all you have to do is promote the right campaign and you can sell easily.

On my journey to understand social media advertising, I understood that with about 400 USD/month it is possible to post ads five times a week, for four weeks and it increases your reach and if you have a cool video or a interesting advertisement to post and attract your potential prospects, it could double your chances to build a list or sell.

The greatest finding was the words "advertising funnel" because I discovered that you can create a Facebook or Instagram campaign by promoting an ad for your product based on an advertising template. It may seem basic to you, however it blew my mind to know that advertising funnel templates existed and that they cost less than 200 USD, and that they also offered a variety of designs too.

Finally, SEO and optimising your website to appear on Google is another way to advertise to reach your dream customer.
