Hello there, how are you?

Today's post is going to be quite short, however I think this topic is quite important for many, so I wanted to speak about it.

Several years ago, when I was looking for a business to start, I found a video about digital products. As I wanted to earn money, I thought it would be a good thing to do, so I created my first digital product, it was a Business Starter Planner.

At the time, I did not want to create a website and I wanted to sell it easily, the first place that came to my mind was Etsy, in addition I did not have any money to invest in a business either, therefore it appeared to be the best site.

I connected to my Etsy account, as I was already an Etsy customer, and searched how to sell on it. The explanation was quite straight forward, all I had to do was create a store, which I did.

The conditions at the time authorised me to sell my products for free for a month or so, after which, I had to pay a fee. So I added my planner to the site, and I was so proud of myself, however I noticed one big problem, which was how can I get my product featured in the top choices? Since I had no money, I understood it would be difficult.

After the trial period, as I had no sales, I closed my Etsy store. The result for me was nil, however if I were to sell on Etsy again, I would do it differently, even with no budget.

After creating my Etsy store, I would:

  • Copy the link to my store and promote it in Facebook groups and other social media accounts.

  • I would create flyers in PDF format, promote them by email, print them too and place them in different areas in the city, for example at a hairdresser, or a café, so that potential customers can find me.

I think following these steps would have increased my chances of selling on it.

You may not know this, but not everything was a loss, because later on, I updated my product and now I offer it for free:

Here is the link to it : Business Starter Planner

And ever since, I also discovered all the MRR digital products which I now sell too!

For those interested, here is the link to a e-book teaching you how to sell on Instagram without showing yourself: Instagram Faceless

To conclude, I think Etsy is a good site to sell your products, however it takes time and money to get sales on it. Do you agree?

Wishing you well.

S.
