Hmmm, a good question, I am still working on it. Answering this question is really important for a business. If I had to make a list of the most important points to starting a business, it would be at the top and the second one would be the cost.

Please note that I wrote the cost and not the investment or the capital required, because knowing the cost of your products and how to be profitable, including the shipping or the items you will need to run your business, all have to be calculated to determine the investment or capital necessary.

In my case, in the recent years, I have never defined officially a budget for my business because it was either freelancing as an Administrative Assistant and I did not expect to have extra costs, although I eventually did have some. Or I spent money from my salary as an employee to plan for any activity related to my business.

In fact, today my passion/business is still a side hustle. Yes, yes. I know... I have not yet taken the BIG LEAP.

My target at the moment is to start a business without money and my greatest difficulty is to find customers.

I spent time defining my ideal customer, I also searched the web for articles, videos and even free webinars to learn how to find and sell to customers.

What I learned is :

  • That building a potential customer list is important when selling products online and that email marketing can really help you to sell.

  • Knowing where your dream customers are is important. Are they on social media, or do they browse on Google? Knowing this information can really boost your business.

  • Although using free classified and networking can help you, having a marketing budget can help to find customers.

  • Advertising isn't only limited to putting a link to your site or a flyer for your event or activity on social media. It is actually more than that.

Finally, what I can say is when you find what you want to do, it is easier to persist with it.

Hope you enjoyed this post.
